today we would like to inform you about changes for 2026 in accordance with the „Fit for 55 package“ of the European Commission. It is expected that the EU ETS Surcharge (introduced January 2024) will increase according to its progressing schedule. In 2026 100% instead of 70% of the reported emissions will have to be converted into allowances.
FuelEU Maritime (remain unchanged) FuelEU Maritime Regulation promotes the use of renewable, low-carbon fuels and clean energy technologies for ships, essential to support decarbonisation in the sector. FuelEU Maritime sets maximum limits for the yearly average greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity of the energy used by ships above 5000 gross tonnage calling European ports. Targets will ensure that the GHG intensity of fuel used in the sector will gradually decrease overtime, starting with a 2% decrease by 2025 and reaching upto an 80% reduction by 2050. The next step will be 6% in 2030.
