LCL Export Callao Port - Congestion

Dear valued customer,

Kindly be advised that the port of Callao is currently suffering from heavy congestion.

The volume of inbound cargo has by far exceeded operational capacity at all terminals.

Even though terminal extensions carried out particularly at APM Terminals and DP World have resulted in increased import capacity from larger vessels, current import volumes require containers to be stored outside the port area to facilitate an acceptable handling speed.

At the same time, the amountof inbound containers reduces operational speed for export cargoes. The current dwell time to deliver or pick up containers to and from the terminals has reached ten hours and more.

Hence, cargo owners need to be prepared for a cost overrun caused by container demurrage and detention as well as rental costs for container yards outside the port area.

SACO Shipping is making all necessary efforts to handle your shipments in the best possible way. We however need to advise that the situation is caused by factors beyond our control.

For further information please liaise with your local SACO teams.
